Game Artist in The Sims Social

I started working on Playfish/Electronic Arts on November 22nd of 2010. The IP I got to work from the start and during the following two years was The Sims Social. This title was the Facebook version of the original Sims series, the top selling franchise from EA.

So, during the first year I worked mainly as a Game Artist, creating many assets in isometric perspective and several icons for their personal traits and their speech bubbles.
I also designed furnitures, ornaments, outfits and all kind of decorative and functional items for the game, mostly using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Animate/Flash.
I totally freaked out when my team let me know this Dragon Tower project made about $660k in 11 days. This item, apart from being the biggest item at that time, contained many interactions and animations and it was the highest-grossing item in the game's history. So the fact that the players loved it so much obviously made me quite happy.
I normally presented my visual ideas in simple sketches. This method also helped me to get the cartoony visual style of the game right, focusing less in tiny little details and emphasizing more the expressivity of the shapes and the colors.
Thanks for watching!
